Presidents Hack
Again, if you were not at The Russell Curling Club Golf Tournament, you missed another great time. The 34 teams that particiapated raised $4,317 for the Expansion Fund. The Curling/Golf Gods smiled down on us as we did not get rain!
Let's go backwards and start with the best stuff first. Back at the Curling Club, Scott, Sean, Jim, Doug, Marion and Todd were cooking up a storm! We were treated to an awesome dinner of chicken and ribs. Bryan, Laurie, Jen and Pierre were ready for our thristy golfers. Thanks to Doreen and her committee for the bar on the slab. Chasing balls is a thirsty and tiring job so thanks for this convience!
The putting competition was won by Michel Provost - member of the dynamic Casselman Curling Team. His prize was $120 as we had a 50/50 split on the proceeds. Michel would later spend that and more at the auction! Thanks Michel.
The Investors Group Farthest from the Pin was won by Ryan Cochrane who received a rescue club for every eventuality. Ryan was the "ringer" on Iceman Frank Thompson's team! Investors raised $485.00 for the Expansion Fund. Thank you Todd Morin and the Investors Group!
The Kevin Cochrane team won the tournament with a score of 63 - 9 under par! They each received a free round of golf at Cloverdale compliments of owner Gib Patterson. The Ladies Longest Drive was won by Gail Gillis, Ladies closest to the pin by Mary Chartrand. Mens Longest Drive went to Ryan Cochrane and closest to the pin to Luc Gendron.
The Executive Hole with the cooler full of refreshments was won by Wayne Roy. Thanks to Beaus Beer for donating some of their fine beer for this cooler. We raised $465 which proves that curlers really enjoy their refreshments!
The Beat the Pro hole with Cloverdale's golf pro Corey Churchill wearing Oven Mitts raised $252. The mens driver, donated by Corey, was won by Charlie Colwell.
Unfortunately nobody won the Embrun Fords Hole-in-One Contest and the $5,000 prize! Thanks to Embrun Ford for sponsoring this hole. Maybe next year!!!!
Our special guest/golfer Erin James - auctioneer extrordinaire, got the crowd going with our live auction. She raised $1,520 with the 7 live auction items. Thanks Erin! Now we have to get her curling!
The silent auction, run by Wayne and Marne Roy, Kevin Moore and Laurie Buske featured a wide silection of 36 gifts and raised $1,475. Great job!
And finally, special thanks to Alison Thompson for her secretarial and telephone skills.
See you at Cloverdale on July 17, 2010!
